Hi Matt,
loved your comments. My son and I were heading out to Thailand just before Covid and had to cancel. I am retiring, soon and as soon as Travel opens up, I am out of here with my first destination Thailand. I will be able to travel the whole country because I will not be on a time limit, and hope to continue on to Vietnam and Cambodia, and then some, but Thailand will be first and foremost. I am building a portfolio now and I would love to stay in contact with you to learn more, since I have never traveled alone and am looking forward to it. I plan on traveling light so I have flexibility to pick and and go anywhere etc. So… nice to read your blog and I just hope travel is not locked up for a long period of time.

The other mode of transport I prefer are the ride-sharing apps like Grab especially if it’s within the larger cities. I find them to be cheaper than taxis oftentimes and even when compared to the open-air tuktuks.

You should have mentioned that you can buy bus tickets for other places at your hostel. I wish I knew that but you only know when you come somewhere.
It’s a great option as they can pick you up at your hostel (considering that bus station in Chiang Mai is very far away). You will get water in the bus and muffins plus the free dinner in the restaurant if you don’t fall asleep (unfortunately there was nothing for vegetarians).
