In the end, the key to surviving (super)long-haul flights like that is to get some sleep to cut the flight time in half – sort of 🙂 I can’t imagine flying more than 6 hours not by night, especially in economy.
Seems like the legroom in economy is pretty good indeed, according to the picture. The seats seem okay too! But yeah, nothing beats Qatar 😉 best trip to China ever.
I just wish airlines could innovate more when it comes to in-flight entertainment, we’re too often reduced to watching movies.

Staying long hours in the plane is always boring, sometimes I sleep off, but I will try your tips here and see if it will be an alternative for my sleeping drama… Hahahha

Really good article, but I hate it when flight attendants get grumpy when you ask for an extra glass of water. I wish they’d just let us bring our own big ass water bottles, bec I totally would.

Whoa! 24 hours on a plane! Well, a glass or two of wine and lots of sleep is the recipe of a good in-flight experience. Great that you got this fabulous opportunity of going behind the scene of plane-making and launching.

Offt! I could NEVER. I get so fidgety after 6 hours. They’re talking of doing the London > Aus flight for 17 hours straight and we’ll see if that takes off (haha, sorry for the pun!) Great post 🙂

That’s fascinating to read Matt, flights which run into double digits usually do us in. I guess it would be nice if you could switch up between economy and business class mid-flight all the time.

Maybe airlines should look at that as a way for more of us to experience the true high-life?!

The after-flight-shower is just great. I think I travel long hours just to enjoy the shower that comes after. A few times it took me 70 hours to come back home… New Zealand is kind of far Jajaja!

I always wondered how long a plane can be on the air, never really researched about it because I would start thinking… should we land this plane right now folks?

I’m sure you would’ve felt miserable after 24 hours in packed economy class! Comfortable seats that allow you to sleep makes ALL the difference!

Good deal Matt. Ditto on the fleets in Singapore when you land. Love it. Timely post too. We are flying from Auckland to NYC in a few days. 4 hour layover in Hawaii but we are looking at 19 hours on the plane. Goodness gracious the movie line up rocks though. I shall watch 4-5, eat some, and get some sleep too.

Oh, for like half of the article I thought you were spending the 24 hours on the ground, just simulating a flight! 😀 That sounded way too crazy.. But actually flying too is much cooler, albeit the fact that the plane was half-empty won’t please the environmentalists.
