So many new destinations to add to my trip now. Thanks for the thorough list! It is truly a unique country from the high tech/advanced city of Tel Aviv with WiFi available on the beaches to the deep history and religious ties. What was your favorite place??

I have been to Israel and I can’t wait to go back again. I literally left my heart there. Sad that my planned visit is now postponed due to the pandemic.

yes, richard; & for that, i suggest staying at a kibbutz, where one has the option of becoming part of the community & seem to offer the best long-term rates, depending on what you’d like to help them with..

I was finally able to set foot on this sacred land about 2 years ago and still have not stopped talking about it. My trip was short but sweet. Though I have had to cancel my April visit back Israel because of the current pandemic (bummed but best to do the right thing), your posts are helping to make my heart so excited to eventually revisit. Truly, no other place has stolen my heart like Israel. Thank you for your posts about it!

I’m fascinated! I have dreamed of visiting the Dead Sea. I hope to make it there some day myself.

I felt the same overwhelming feeling when I spent two weeks in Israel, I arrived with a long list of sites to visit, I still have half of them to see yet. However, it is necessary to be flexible as security measures can quickly make it impossible to access some places, that happened to me. My strangest night was indeed the one spent in a kibbutz, everything was silent and plunged into darkness.

Hi Doug:
What was your budget? How did you make the arrangements with Abraham hostels? I t seems they provide transportation between cities? Israel travel has been a lifetime dream for me. Now with the corona virus seems even further away

Absolutely the best trip we have taken to date. Such a beautiful and diverse landscape. The deserts in the south are beautiful, and the northern mountains are gorgeous.

We spent the entire trip staying with Abrham Hostels. They have three locations (Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Nazarerth) with a fourth coming (Eilat). Each location offers tours and transit from one to the next. It was incredibly convenient not to have to worry about transport the entire time we were there.

They had three full day tours in the West Bank, which was awesome.

Israel was somewhat surreal… there are just so many places that you’ve been hearing about your entire life from either sunday school or the news… getting to see them myself was an amazing experience.
